THOUGHTS
——————————

When I read the concept, I wasn't really expecting anything special going in. However, when I watched the first episode, the first things that I immediately loved were the characters. Our main duo Tsukimi and Kuranosuke work perfectly off of each other. She's kind-hearted and generous yet has poor self-esteem and social skills, while he's confident and outgoing yet can be selfish. The supporting cast is very entertaining and memorable as well. The usually calm and train obsessed Banba, the motherly Chieko who loves traditional Japanese clothing, the over the top Mayaya who loves Records Of The Kingdoms, the quiet Jiji who is attracted to mature men... whatever floats your boat girl I ain't judgin', and Kuranosuke's brother Shuu who is afraid of women. Another thing I wasn't expecting was there to be a story. At first, I felt like it was going to predictable, with these ladies hanging out day after day with Kuranosuke and soon finding out that he's a guy, but that surprisingly didn't happen. The plot starts when the characters find out that their apartment is going to get destroyed and replaced with a hotel or shopping center. Now the 6 ladies along with Kuranosuke are trying all they can to stop this from happening, even if it means going out of their comfort zone because of their new friend. There's also a side story with Shuu that... not gonna lie, I didn't care about. However, that's just me, even if I didn't care it still held importance to the main story and the message. I'm not gonna say what the message is, but it's very subtle and I wanna see if y'all can find out what it is.

OVERALL

I loved Princess Jellyfish. The characters were fun, the story was engaging, and I loved the subtle message. My only gripe is the side story with Shuu, but that's just a nitpick. If you're looking for a fun yet charming and light-hearted anime, then I highly suggest watching Princess Jellyfish.
